Link value calculator
Five questions about a potential placement, one comparable score. Use it to rank a shortlist before you spend a morning writing emails.
Score a placement
Topical relevance
How close is the linking page's subject to yours?
Domain strength
Established reputation of the linking site.
Page visibility
Does the specific page get read, or is it buried?
Link placement
Where the link would sit on the page.
Follow status
Followed links pass ranking signals; nofollow and sponsored links still send visitors.
Link value score
100
Strong opportunity. Worth a carefully personalised pitch and a follow-up.
What the score means
The score is a weighted comparison, not a prediction. Relevance is weighted highest, followed by domain strength, the page’s own visibility, placement within the page, and follow status. Two opportunities scored the same way can be ranked against each other honestly; no score can tell you how a single link will move rankings, and no tool that claims otherwise can prove it.
Use it to answer one question: given limited outreach time, which of these first?
Things the score deliberately ignores
- Price. If a placement has a price, it is a paid link, which is a link scheme under Google's spam policies regardless of how good the site looks.
- Promised timelines. Until a link is on the live page, it is not a link.
- Domain metrics in isolation. A strong domain with no topical connection to you is a weak link dressed up as a good one.
Frequently asked questions
How is the score calculated?
It is a weighted sum of five inputs you supply: topical relevance, domain authority, the page's own visibility, where on the page the link would sit, and whether it is followed. Relevance carries the most weight because an irrelevant link from a strong domain rarely sends the right signal or the right visitors.
Is this a prediction of ranking impact?
No, and be sceptical of anything that claims to be. No public tool can measure how one link affects rankings. This is a consistent way to compare opportunities against each other so you spend outreach time on the better ones.
Should I ever pursue a low-scoring link?
Sometimes. A low score with very high relevance can still be worth it if the audience is exactly yours, because referral visitors and credibility matter independently of search. A low score driven by weak relevance is usually not worth the email.
Does this tool store what I enter?
No. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
